Horizontal Still Life belongs to Oksana Stratiychuk’s Baroque series of etchings. In these artworks, human figures become characters within luxurious still lifes, inspired by the paintings of Dutch masters. Have they lost their subjectivity and become objectified like forks and knives with strict predestination? Or do these figures assume any new roles by becoming participants in the banquet? As Oksana likes to say, the viewer is up to decide.
