About the Artwork:

Beach for the Virgin Mary (2025) unfolds as a contemplative fusion of landscape, symbol, and reverence.

Soft layers of pale whites and muted blues create a luminous field, within which a gently curved form emerges—suggestive of shelter, passage, or quiet arrival. Subtle linear traces and translucent textures evoke both water and time, allowing the surface to breathe with restrained movement.

Donchev’s use of collage and mixed technique introduces depth without excess, guiding the viewer toward a meditative reading rather than a literal one. The title lends the work a poetic gravity, framing the composition as a space of stillness and reflection. Beach for the Virgin Mary operates as an abstract sanctuary—where form, light, and material converge in a moment of quiet devotion and enduring calm.
